This month, Social Enterprise Niagara will feature presentations and a discussion of the funding and financing options available to new or growing social enterprises.

We are pleased to welcome our members and supporters to our new meeting location and new day of the week for June:  Spark Niagara, a new business incubator. Our meeting will take place in their Niagara Falls location Wednesday, June 27th.

Over the next few months, Social Enterprise Niagara will deliver further topics intended to add value at each stage of the entrepreneurial journey. Our guest entrepreneurs and investors will discuss challenges like: finding socially responsible investors; bootstrapping a company to growth on limited resources; working towards financial self-sustainability as a non-profit operator; and more.

Our presenters this month will include:

  • Paul Connor, past Economic Research & Analysis Manager at Niagara Region Economic Development and past President of Angel Investors Ontario (a part of the Ontario Network of Entrepreneurs). Paul, currently Secretary of the Social Enterprise Niagara Planning Committee, maintains an awareness of the plethora of startup funding options available to entrepreneurs from all orders of government. He has written grant funding proposals that have netted upwards of $5 million for the various organizations that have employed him, and has worked with startup entrepreneurs for ten years.

  • Adriann Knight is Business Information Officer at the St. Catharines Enterprise Centre, and past Economic Development student at Niagara Region Economic Development.  Adriann, also a member of the Social Enterprise Niagara Planning Committee, helps young entrepreneurs to get started and successfully navigate barriers to growth on a daily basis. With diverse international and Niagara-centric experiences in business and management, Adriann’s advice is grounded in the art of the possible.

  • Volker Loetfering is the Business Loans Officer at Venture Niagara CFDC and an expert on business loans and financing, as well as business advisory services. His professional background includes banker, sales & marketing manager and international business development specialist. He has worked in various industry verticals throughout his career including manufacturing, distribution, retail, information technology, non-profit, market research and financing.

Are you an entrepreneur, investor or startup community stakeholder? Come have some drinks and meet current and aspiring social entrepreneurs* at Social Enterprise NIagara Meetups on the last Wednesday of each month at Spark Niagara.
